Incoming
The School of Science comprises 5 academic units that offer a wide variety of courses and programs in biological science, chemical science, mathematical science, ocean science and physical science.
Being an exchange student at the School of Science, you may choose to study at HKUST for either a term (Fall or Spring), or for a full academic year (Fall & Spring).
You are free to take a combination of courses across different disciplines, with priority in taking courses offered by the School of Science. Credits earned at HKUST are transferrable to your home institution.
Checklist before leaving
When your exchange term draws to a close, make sure that you have done the following before you leave:
- Finish all the exams of the courses you take
- Submit the transcript request form during orientation; if you need extra copies of transcripts, apply at a fee via by completing the online transcript request form
- Complete the check-out procedure at the Student Housing and Residential Life Office before moving out
- Settle all outstanding fees, e.g. hall residence rental, library charges (if any)
- Return all the books borrowed from library (if any)
- Close your bank account (if you have opened one here)
- Read the Travel Tips for Students as most exchange students would like to travel around before going back to home country

Your feedback on the exchange experience in HKUST would definitely help us understand exchange students’ needs more for further improvement. Towards the end of the term, the School will approach you for help to fill out an online survey on your exchange experience.
